Dalai Lama's Monks in Shelburne Falls

    Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 07:55 PM [General]

DALAI LAMA'S MONKS IN SHELBURNE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS

Shelburne Falls, MA-   The Dalai Lama’s monks will be creating a sand mandala for health and prosperity on Saturday , April 26th , at the Shelburne Falls Yoga Studio at 1 Deerfield Avenue .   The public is invited to come view the monks at work any time during the day between the hours of 12:30 and 6:00 pm.   At 6:00 pm, the monks will sweep up the mandala and process to the Bridge of  Flowers for a blessing ceremony before scattering the sand upon the wind and water.

Mandalas are meant for religious use but for the purpose of teaching about Tibetan culture, the Dalai Lama has permitted them to be made in public.   The mandalas represent a Buddha’s divine residence and serve as an aid to meditation and to contemplating the spiritual teachings conveyed by the intricate designs of the mandala.   It is believed that peace and harmony are brought into the area where a mandala is constructed and that even seeing one can awaken the innate sense of compassion and well-being that Buddhists believe exist as the true nature of each living being.

Mandalas can be made of sand, cloth, metal , stone, or wood.  They may be flat or actually built as miniature palaces.  Construction of a mandala requires great discipline and the painstakingly laying down of each grain of sand  from a heart steeped in  prayerful concentration.   The process usually extends over a period of weeks.  The mandala in Shelburne Falls will be a much simpler piece but promises to offer the same blessing power of the more elaborate ones.

Young and old alike are sure to be delighted by this glimpse of Tibet in Shelburne Falls.    Your goodwill donation of $10 per adult will be offered to the monks for food and educational supplies at their monastery.   This rare event is being sponsored by Deborah and Martin Yaffee, owners of the Riverside Healing Arts Center in Shelburne Falls, MA.   For more information or to make a special donation, please contact Deborah Yaffee at 413-625-2800 or email deb@riversidehealing.com

Detox the Body as well as the Mind

    Saturday, February 16, 2008, 07:34 AM [General]

I have been a nutritionist far longer than I have been a hypnotist and I've long observed how for many people, their issues, eating issues in particular, can disappear when their body is receiving proper nourishment.   That is, for many folks, that big emotional hunger that I try to work with in hypnosis somehow disappears when the body's true hunger is actually being fed with effective nutrition.

More.....in my hypnosis practice, I have noticed that the emotional issues are revealed much more quickly, are resolved more quickly, in those weight clients who follow nutritional protocols that address the biochemistry of balancing the body and eliminate cravings.  When the body is fed and the biochemistry becomes balanced, the other issues are much more evident and clear.

I have recently discovered a nutritional system that is readily available to the public.  I have experienced it to be more effective than the products in the professional health care lines availalbe to me.  This is not a diet or a fast or a harsh liver or colon cleanse.  It is a whole body nutritional cleansing program that brings the body back into homeostatic balance so that it can take care of itself.

Tom Nicoli introduced me to this system when he came out to participate in our World Hypnotism Day event.  I (the nutritionist) was skeptical at first.....but then I tried the program.  I am delighted to report that , in spite of my thyroid issues, my body finally went into fat burning mode and I began to shed pounds of fat without losing muscles mass.   Since mid January , I am happy to report on my birthday (today) that I have shed 18 pounds! And I CAN SEE MY TOES!  I haven't seen my toes in four years!  If you have seen my posts in the Fit Hypnotist group, you would know this is miraculous.....I was doing EVERYTHING in my nutritional and hypnosis know how ,and was barely shedding the pounds.  I was so discouraged.

Now that I have this experience of the product, I am able to share it with others, including clients. The system is not just for weight release...it is designed to help you achieve optimal health.  I think my athletes are going to find it will give them the endurance and strength and mental focus edge they've been looking for.

So, if you would like to know more about what I am doing, go to www.cleansedforlife.com   and if you think achieving optimal health is tasteless, check out the shorter video at www.isadelight.com/video6.html   To see the whole system, go to my website at www.cleanseforabundance.com

I had not previously taken many weight clients because I was embarrassed about my own weight....that has completely changed now!  This is also a fantastic program for smoking cessation clients.......clearing out impurities from their bodies and providing deep nutrition does wonders for reducing cravings for substances that give us false highs.

I am offering free personal cleanse coaching to everyone who would like to try this program.....whether it is for yourself or for a client who doesn't have a physical plan in place to support the work they are doing with you.  As a nutritionist, I will be happy to customize their package right for maximum benefit.  Call me for this service at 413 625 2800 or email me at deb@riversidehealing.com

Svengali meets Tom Nicoli in Shelburne Falls....

    Monday, January 7, 2008, 09:38 AM [General]

Sinister hypno-villain, Svengali, meets Super-HypnoHero, Tom Nicoli? That’s exactly what happened on World Hypnotism Day weekend here, at Pothole Pictures, in Shelburne Falls, MA The Western MA chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotists delighted area residents with a showing of the 1931 John Barrymore film, Svengali, followed by a talkback with chapter members….and our special guest, Tom Nicoli.

World Hypnotism Day founder, Tom Nicoli, mesmerized the audience and prepared them for the evening ahead. I did my part, too. I introduced the film and answered the question : why Svengali?

Why indeed? Turns out that this film, and the original 1894 novel “Trilby” from which it was derived, is truly an integral part of our professional history. Trilby is the vulnerable young woman who was the target of Svengali’s evil designs. Back in 1894, George duMaurier’s “Trilby” set off an international furor of Trilby-mania. Hypnotically riveted by the book, hundreds of thousands of readers accepted the author’s strong, though unwitting, suggestions about who we hypnotists are and what we do. The image of hypnotist as selfish, psychic manipulator (Svengali) bypassed the critical factor of the culture at large and entered firmly into the collective subconscious of the West. A series of theatrical productions that followed the book reinforced those suggestions, but it was John Barrymore’s performance combined with the skills of Hollywood that took firm root in our cultural subconscious.

Isn’t WHD like a global hypnosis session in which we helping the public to remove the last of these erroneous ideas about hypnotists and hypnotism that still effectively keep so many people from experiencing the life-changing benefits of this work?

After the film, Tom Nicoli joined our NGH chapter members in taking questions from the audience. Chapter members gave away many wonderful hypnosis gifts and services in the drawing, and we held a special drawing to recognize and honor any other hypnotists in the audience.

All in all, I think this was a hugely successful event, and that the good people here in the happy valley went away much more knowledgeable about this fabulous tool we call hypnosis.
