Don't Keep Your Thanks A Secret

    Friday, August 31, 2007, 02:20 PM [General]

Marty and I have a wedding anniversary coming up.  We were married on Thanksgiving, November 22nd (1979 if you must know!).  Yeah, it's corny but even back then, we were into the whole Gratitude thing and that's why we chose to tie the endless knot of good fortune on Thanksgiving.

One thing that a Thanksgiving anniversary did for me was to keep me not only mindful of my good fortune but it inspired me to keep the conscious effort up to take action and express appreciation NOW.

Yes, now.  Why wait?  Are there people in your life who have made a positive difference in yours?  Let them know it!  Don't keep your thankyou a secret.  Aw, go ahead, don't be shy.  And, be specific!  Yeah, maybe some of them will be suspicious but you know what?  For most of them, you'll really make their day!  And you know what else?  YOU will feel better, too.

I am always excited and surprised by the good people and the good things that come my way.  I wonder what the heck I ever did "right" to merit such incredible good fortune.  On the other hand, I have spent a lot of time these days saying Thank You even for the nasty stuff and the people who were not so nice to me through the years.  They are the ones who helped make me strong, loving, compassionate, patient, and reflective.

So, go give someone you appreciate a nice big kiss and thank them........right now!  And for everyone else?  Well, i think a simple prayer of blessing will suffice.

Right now, I am sending out a big wave of thanks-giving to all of you who do this special work that changes lives for the better , every day.  You are awesome!

    Debbie,

Back at you, girlfriend ... I see all that is as good and give it thanks everyday... I accept all that is challenging and become better for it. The good reminds me of how fortunate I am ...the not so good reminds me to be humble for all that I have and the CHOICES I can make every minute of my day. Love your way of thinking ... Love your spirit. YOU GO GIRL. I get it.

Super Deb... Congrats, though I'll see you and Marty before your anniversary. BTW... mine and Cheryl's is Sept. 8th.

I have become conditioned to being grateful always yet as a practice the very first thing when I wake up in the morning, whenever that happens to be, is I look out the skylights in my master bedroom suite and I thank the Universe, God, Source, call it what you will, for everything. We have no idea how much good is in our lives (or can be) until we recognize and appreciate.

    Hi Deb,

All I can say is that I am thankful every day to have a dear friend like you. I see in you and Marty the kind of relationship that others can only dream about.
The Attitude of Gratitude is and should be contagious.
Sometimes when things are not going your way its hard to count your blessings. But I belive that is when it's most important.

I will do my best to come up and see Marty, you, TT and Tom later this fall.

    Love you lots and lots
